We Are Weak, But...

Updated: Nov 15, 2021

Friends,

All year long, I have felt so weak, and I am sure you have had your moments as well.

We felt weak in the face of a virus no one seemed to understand. We felt weak as we faced changing CDC guidelines, guidelines that made it hard to stay in school. We felt weak because the normal pressures of life were magnified. We felt weak as we tried to make wise decisions about sports. Yes, we felt weak, and sometimes the weakness was overwhelming.

Then Jesus spoke to us saying, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”

Knowing this transformed our weakness. We learned that we had hit the jackpot as recipients of grace. Every day we stayed in school was a manifestation of grace. Every lesson mastered was a picture of his strength. Every athletic competition we competed in was an opportunity for praise.

We lived. We learned. We endured. Most of all, we experienced the kindness of our king. And that makes us very thankful.

To our staff: I am thankful for your hard work. You had to overcome your own fears to put the needs of your students first, and God blessed your efforts. It is a blessing to know you.

To our students: I am thankful for the joy your brought. You worked hard, and did everything we asked of you to make this a great school year. Because of this, you are ready for the next step.

To our parents: I am thankful that you supported us this year. Your prayers were critical. Your patience essential. We love partnering with you, and we look with anticipation toward the future God has for us.

And last but certainly not least:

To our King: Thank you for your presence among us. Thank you for giving us as many days as you gave. Thank you for the sure confidence that when this life ends, because of Jesus, living will just begin. If you gave us a thousand lives, we would give them all to you.

God bless you all. Have a great summer!

Shane Arnold
